The story of Christ’s last seven days is seen through a lens of the late ’60s, comparing his meteoric rise to that of contemporary celebrities. Borrowing from the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the story follows the Roman Empire’s increasing distrust of Jesus and his following. When Judas betrays Jesus to the Roman Empire, Jesus and his followers face the ultimate test of their belief. Driven by a stirring score, Jesus Christ Superstar runs the gamut of emotion, with satirical humor, thought-provoking edge, and emotional intensity.
